- 1/9/01 - Sorry its been awhile since I've updated this site. Allot has
happened in the last couple of months. The family went up to North Carolina
for the holidays during Christmas. First we stopped by Columbia, South
Carolina and visited my daughter Kristin and her folks. It was great. My
kids got to meet their sister for the first time and Kristin being an only
child was delighted to meet her sisters. We exchanged gifts and then all
went out for dinner. It was strange at first sitting between my wife and
ex-wife and her husband but God has restored and healed our relationships
and we had a real fun time. Marcie and Kristin took some pictures which i
will post when I can. Afterwards we drove up to N.C. and had a big family
reunion with my family. For the first time in years all 9 kids of my moms
got to make it home for Christmas so on Christmas eve we had a photographer
come in and take a family portrait and other photos of all the gang. On Christmas
we rented a large hall at the fire station to fit our 35 plus family and we
opened up gifts and ate dinner and had our annual handstand contest. Now 3
age brackets and 2 generations strove to topple the handstand champion but
somehow at age 48 I somehow managed to hold my handstands the longest and
remain the champion (Glory then, soreness later!)
The day after Christmas was
really rough. That night mom who has emphysema, on oxygen and confined to a
wheel chair got pneumonia and developed a fever of 102 and started hyperventilating.
We had to call the paramedics and they rushed her to the hospital. She got
congestive heart failure and we had around the clock prayer vigile as it was
tough and go for awhile but after a few days she was doing allot better and
could finally sit up and somewhat converse. So we ended up speding most of
our vacation at the hospital. Two good things though. We did take off for a
day with cell phone in hand and drove up to the mountains so the kids could
see snow. We went to Boone and found a thrift shop which made Marcie
happy and then as we left it started snowing a little. It wasn't much but
enough for Stacie to bound out of the car in great delight since she had
never seen snow before in her life. We parked on the campus at Appalachian
state and there was allot of snow on the ground so we had a big snowball
fight and made snowmen till our fingers were nearly frozen then on the way
back we stopped at a place where Marcie could get the two things she was
longing for. Barbecue and a blackberry cobbler.
The second great thing that
happened was Kristin and her fiancé Marshall came up to surprise me. The
came to the hospital and met mom (her grandmother she had never met) and all
her aunts and uncles (my brothers and sisters. It was great. She left that
night and took Jamie back down to Columbia with her to spend some time with
her and then we picked up Jamie on the way home. All in all it was a great
time. I'll post pictures when i get them back. Later JW

- 10/17/00 - Well on Saturday, October 14th, Jerry drove up to Columbia,
S.C. and met with His daughter Kristin after being separated for nearly 25
years. It went wonderfully. They spent the day getting reaquanted and
getting to know each other. This has been a answer to many years of prayer.

daughter after 25 years. Kristin Rebekah is Jerry's 1st daughter from a
previous marriage. He hasn't even seen a picture of her since an infant. She

relationship.
- 9/21/00- This is our inaugural issue of our Family Web site. The general
idea was to throw something together and revise it later, so this will be an
ongoing "Under construction " project. Meanwhile....Enjoy!
